A New Jersey company has announced it plans to sell its own version of a generic version of its heartburn drug Nexium.
The company, Teva Pharmaceuticals LP, plans to make the drug available in two generic forms.
Nexium, sold as Prevacid, is also a heartburn medication that has been in use for the past six years.
In a statement, Teva said: "We are pleased with the success of our launch of this new generic version of Nexium."
It will be available at Walmart for $10.00, and at CVS for $10.00.
In October, the drugmaker announced it had entered into a strategic partnership agreement with, which helps it win FDA approval for its heartburn drug, Nexium.
This launch was a major victory for Nexium, which has been the world's top-selling drug since its patent expired in 1998. The company, which is based in New Brunswick, New Jersey, will be able to launch its generic version of Nexium at a much lower price, the company said.
"The launch of our generic form of Nexium is a significant milestone for our patients who rely on this medication," said David R. Brown, company president of Teva Pharmaceuticals LP.

In September, the drugmaker said it would begin selling its own generic version of Nexium at a cost of $10.50 per tablet, which it is offering as a generic. This offer, which was announced as a potential generic, is expected to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange in the first quarter of 2009.
Nexium is available as a brand name drug and can cost between $10 and $15 per tablet. It has a market value of about $3.8 billion, with a daily price of about $0.70 per tablet. It is the second-biggest U. S. generic drug maker after Pfizer Inc. in the second quarter of 2010.The company also is one of the world's leading generic drug manufacturers. Nexium Control Tablets 20mg is used in adults for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation).
Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet (“foodpipe”) which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
Nexium Control is not meant to bring immediate relief. You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 days in a row before you feel better. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.

A Nexium tablet is a product that helps to relieve acid and/or decrease gastric irritation caused by pe foods. Nexium is used to treat acid reflux, gastric irritation, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It prevents the effect of acid in the stomach from being produced.
Esomeprazole is used to treat the symptoms of acid reflux, gastric irritation, and GERD. Esomeprazole is used to relieve heartburn and other symptoms of acid reflux. It is also used to treat symptoms of pe anhing in animals. Nexium control medicine contains a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which is used to control stomach ulcers and stomach bleeding. Nexium is used to treat the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) caused by stomach acid. It relieves acid and/or protonurrent in the stomach and other stomach tissues, and reduces pain and/or dysphagia in certain foods. It is used to decrease the symptoms of GERD and to reduce the risk of further problems such as heartburn and other related symptoms as described in the Nexium patent Specification.
Gastroesophageal reflux (“GERD”) is the cause of symptoms of acid reflux in people who have symptoms of gastric problems such as heartburn, heartburn with swallowing, hard-to-control low stomach acid. GERD is also known as "heartburn”.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your veterinarian. Nexium control medicine is injected into a vein from a pet. Do not use Nexium from this dose as it could lead to the withdrawal symptoms listed below.
If you are allergic to esomeprazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or any other inactive ingredients of this medicine, give this medicine by mouth only. Do not use Nexium from this dose as it may cause allergic reactions.
Tell your veterinarian if you are taking any other medicines, including any medicines that you get without prescription, herbal products, or recreational drugs. Do not give this medicine if your pet has not been able to swallow the tablets.

The 20 mg tablets are available in a 10 mg, 10 mg, and 40 mg strength. The 40 mg tablets are available in a 20 mg strength and can be used to treat mild to moderate heart failure.
